Overview
55 West Hastings is a 32-unit, 10-storey concrete rental building in Vancouver, made up of one-bedroom units. We delivered the complete mechanical scope including plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, controls, and fire protection.
The Challenge
A 10-storey concrete building in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside brings its own coordination complexity. With a smaller unit count on a taller structure, mechanical routing and riser coordination needed to be worked out carefully to avoid conflicts and keep the install clean.
The Resolution
We installed ERV units for building-wide ventilation and split-system heat pumps for heating and cooling in each suite. Domestic hot water is supplied by high-efficiency electric hot water heaters. The system is designed for reliable performance with minimal maintenance demand. Construction is underway with completion scheduled for September 2027.
