LGH Angiography Renovation

Overview

Client Lions Gate Hospital
Sector Healthcare
Scale Retrofit | 2-Phase

This project involved the renovation of existing radiology rooms at Lions Gate Hospital to create two new angiography suites. To keep the hospital running without interruption, the work was split into two phases, ensuring at least one suite remained operational at all times. We delivered the full mechanical contract including sheet metal, plumbing, hydronics, medical gas, controls, sprinkler, and commissioning, as well as a new custom AHU added to the roof and rework of existing services in the angiography ceiling space.

The Challenge

Renovating active clinical space in a hospital is one of the more demanding environments for a mechanical contractor. Infection control, continuity of hospital operations, and the complexity of tying into existing high-pressure steam and medical gas systems all require precise coordination with the facilities team. The two-phase structure added scheduling complexity while protecting hospital function.

Our Solution

We coordinated closely with Vancouver Coastal Health’s facilities and operations teams throughout both phases to manage handovers carefully and minimize impact on surrounding departments. A new custom AHU was added to the roof to serve both the new angio suites and support future projects in the area. We tied into the existing high-pressure steam system and expanded the hydronic and steam plant in the mechanical room. Phase 1 is complete. Phase 2 is scheduled to begin in June 2026.
